Elder Abuse and Neglect. Up to 1 in 10 adults experience some form of abuse each year, and many of these cases never come to the attention of law enforcement.
Human Trafficking. Slavery hasn’t gone away, and this horror is not confined to far-away places. By most estimates, as many as 100,000 children are victims of human trafficking right here in the United States, and roughly 15,000 foreign nationals are trafficked into the country each year.
Ethics Reform. Few things are more important to good government than public confidence, and that can only be attained—or warranted—when we adhere to the principles of openness and transparency.
Outside Counsel Transparency and Accountability. As part of my commitment to transparency, accountability, and fiscal responsibility, I will advocate for the adoption of the Transparency in Private Attorney Contracts Act (TIPAC) in Virginia, legislation to ensure that the actions of the Attorney General’s office always benefit the office’s ultimate client: the people of Virginia.

NORFOLK – This morning, on WNIS, Senator Mark Obenshain announced the endorsement of more than 50 leaders in the Hampton Roads business community. Mark Obenshain recently received the endorsement of the National Federation for Independent Business, “The Voice of Small Business,” and has a 100 percent lifetime rating from the NFIB. The leaders endorsing Obenshain today represent diverse industries employing thousands of individuals in Hampton Roads.
Speaking in support of Mark Obenshain, Virginia Beach Mayor Will Sessoms said, “I’m supporting Mark Obenshain for Attorney General because he understands the challenges and opportunities we face in Hampton Roads. Mark has made a career in the State Senate out of often quietly finding creative solutions to complex problems – without regards to who gets the credit. I am confident that as Attorney General, Mark will make sure that our transportation dollars are used to generate real traffic solutions. Mark will make a great Attorney General for the citizens of Virginia Beach and for the whole Commonwealth.”
Bruce Thompson said, “I’m supporting Mark Obenshain because he has a record of fighting for a better business climate and for safer communities. He is running this race the same way he has led in the State Senate — by doing his homework, laying out his plans, and reaching out to people of both parties to build winning coalitions of support. Mark’s door has always been open to those who agree with him as well as those who don’t — and he’ll hear you out and always work to find solutions. We need Mark Obenshain’s leadership in the Attorney General’s office and I encourage Virginians to join me in helping to elect him November 5.”
Tom Frantz said, “Mark Obenshain has a proven track record of leadership, having started his own practice ten years ago, which grew to 50 employees. He is one of the top legal minds in Virginia, and as Attorney General, will focus on improving our climate for business and enhancing the quality of life for our citizens. Mark Obenshain’s plans for safer communities and greater economic opportunity are exactly what we need in our next Attorney General. Mark has experience running a law firm, he knows the office and he has my full support.”
Speaking about the strong support from members of the Hampton Roads business community, Senator Obenshain said, “Hampton Roads is an economic engine for Virginia and I’m grateful to have the support of these leaders from the region. As Attorney General, my top priorities will be making sure we have safe communities and that our policies are making it easier for the private sector to create jobs.”
